This spring we were able to visit Utah's Hogle Zoo again. My friend Nalani and I are the president and vice president of the BYU Pre-veterinary Club and we worked hard this past year to fundraise enough money for better club meetings and an end of the year trip! We thought a trip to the zoo would be great for the club.
First we had an in-depth tour of the zoo's new veterinary clinic with the exception of the very back where they had animals in quarantine from one of the on-staff veterinarians. Hogle Zoo is in the middle of a big transition and getting a bunch of new animals : ) We ate an awesome lunch provided by Cafe Rio. There was a huge salad, beans, rice, & pork/chicken/cheese enchiladas. After filling our stomachs we had a tour of the zoo by our friend Lesley who is a ECO-explorer at the zoo. She told us a little more about the animals and types of training and enrichment activities they do in order to keep animals active and healthy. We then gathered at a little behind the scenes theatre where Lesley took out some animals for us to meet up close!
