Uchi's Farwell

Well, we had hoped Uchi (our beta fish) was on the mend from whatever was making her sick, but she suddenly lost a lot of her color and her eye was the worst it's ever been. We tried our best to fight off the bacteria or fungus using antibiotics, frequent water changes, aquarium salts, etc. Sadly, Uchi couldn't pull through.

She started swimming on her side and didn't move hardly at all. Her breathing was labored and she stopped eating her food. We gave her one last treatment and water change and she perked up a little, but the next morning Trevor noticed she didn't make it through the night. He woke me and together we said our goodbyes to our little friend.

I have had bettas before, but Uchi dying felt especially sad because she was our first pet. We'll miss you Uchi!
